For a Lunch at the World Bank
Following an invitation from Joaquin Toro, Disaster Risk Management Specialist at the World Bank and responsible for Europe and Central Asia, Albert Schwingshandl (RIOCOM) and Jürgen Waser (VRVis GmbH) held a presentation on innovative decision support in flood risk management. This took place in the course of the so called “Brown Bag Lunch” at the World Bank office in Vienna.
The aim of the event were
- the illustration of challenges in flood risk management, and
- the presentation of the innovative software VISDOM and its valuable contributions for decision support
The introduced software is a sophisticated, visual analysis-system, which can provide important help in decision making, e.g. to emergency forces in case of a serious flood event.
A lively discussion took place, which showed the great interest in the given presentations. One of the participants was, amongst others, Annegien Tijssen from the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), who participated via video conference.
