Completion of construction work

In the course of the regulation of the March former branches were separated from the runoff and filled with excavated material. As a result, valuable habitats for plants and animals were destroyed and the river landscape of the March was made fertile for agricultural use.

Now at the beginning of August 2018 excavators have rolled in to integrate a former branch of the March back to the runoff – the Lange Luss. Over a length of almost 2 kilometers, the side arm was dug up to a width of up to 25 meters. The side arm is already flown through and is already accepted as a new habitat – especially winter waterfowl are found in large numbers.

Our colleague Johannes Roither was responsible for the planning and tendering of the project and accompanied the construction activities together with Arnold Putz.
