The first question is: how great is the risk? In the case of floods: how high can the water rise and how quickly does it flow? The second issue is the possible damage. Are people endangered? Are there buildings, streets or train installations in the danger zone? And thirdly: how vulnerable are these? For example: do the people know about the possible danger? Must they rely on help if they want to bring themselves to safety? How are the buildings constructed? Do railway operators observe the water level and are they equiped with emergency plans?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cmsms_column one_third\" data-animation=\"fadeInLeft\" data-delay=\"1150\">\n<div id=\"cmsms_fb_6a00977f7007f\" class=\"cmsms_featured_block coloredbox-third\">\n<div class=\"featured_block_inner\">\n<div class=\"featured_block_text\">\n<h3>Challenges<\/h3>\n<p>When evaluating risk, many data are involved. Some factors can hardly be shown in figures. The most challenging part is to create a data basis which must be up-to-date and exact. Risk management plans are strategic plans. They consist of measures for the reduction of risk. The competences are spread among several levels and departments. We must bring these together in order to coordinate the measures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cmsms_column one_third\" data-animation=\"fadeInLeft\" data-delay=\"1300\">\n<div id=\"cmsms_fb_6a00977f70249\" class=\"cmsms_featured_block coloredbox-second\">\n<div class=\"featured_block_inner\">\n<div class=\"featured_block_text\">\n<h3>Competence<\/h3>\n<p>Regarding the topic of risk, there is much new to discover.
